Olmsted Now Public Dialogue #8

August 17, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Each third Wednesday of the month, Olmsted Now invites the community to a public dialogue on shared use, shared health and shared power in parks and public spaces. These hour-long discussions are a platform to explore our bicentennial themes through the perspective of a guiding community voice.

Join us on August 17 from 6-7 PM for a public dialogue on Shared Power, to explore how youth development programs can take different approaches in deepening youth’s connection to parks and public space. Youth representatives from three programs will describe their summer projects, highlight their accomplishments and share key moments that shaped their understanding and connection to public lands:

  • Summer Exploratory Experience in Design (SEED) is an annual six-week paid internship structured holistically around introducing young high school students to the world of design.
  • Stewards of the Future is a 8 week paid program that immerses youth in public program development and engagement.
  • Historic Preservation Corps is a is a unique program based in Massachusetts that offers participants training and experience in several historic preservation and maintenance trades including carpentry, window restoration, historic trail-side structure restoration, masonry, landscaping, painting, and more
