Weed Warrior Weekend: Brookline’s Historic Green Hill

September 25, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Participants will assist in the continuation of the Green Hill parcel landscape restoration project. Green Hill is the neighborhood where Frederick Law Olmsted, the first landscape architect in the United States, established the first office for landscape architecture in Brookline, MA. The Olmsteds were integral in the establishment of the profession of landscape architecture and in designing public parks, including National Park Sites that exist today, around the country.

The Green Hill parcel is 5 acres of land neighboring the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site that is integral to the story of the Olmsteds in Brookline. Our natural resources team works on restoring the New England meadow that once bordered the South Lawn at Olmsted’s homestead. We will be weeding out invasive plants throughout the property and learning about how our work will impact the future of the site.
