Writing Our Truth in the Park
October 29, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join author Nakia Hill in exploring spatial justice and writing about our personal connections to Boston’s public parks. This event is a parks equity and spatial justice project supported by Olmsted Now.
This intergenerational writing workshop will create a space for BIPOC women and girls to craft stories, essays, and poems about their memories in our city’s neighborhood parks. All pieces of writing created at each workshop will be considered to be published in a professionally bound book with each author’s consent. This special book project expected to be released in spring 2023.
Rain Plan: If it rains on the date the event is scheduled to take place, the workshop will take place virtually.
We encourage those who would like to reserve a seat and participate in the writing session to register. There are only 30 seats available, so this workshop is easeful, soothing, and intimate for all writers. Registration will remain open until all seats are filled in both sessions. If each session fills up, we will add you to a waiting list.
All are welcome: If residents would like to just stop by the park and say hello, there will be a special table for community members to contribute to a quick and easy community writing prompt and grab a special gift to go.
